Begin with the person receiving the work
Imagine an agent preparing a supplier-enquiry brief for a procurement colleague. The useful question is what that colleague needs in order to continue: a clear request, known requirements, source material and unresolved issues. This concept starts with the receiving role and works backwards through the task. It reveals which information should be assembled and which judgement should remain with a person, giving the agent a practical purpose within a larger sequence of work.
Name the state in plain language
A colleague should be able to tell whether a task is waiting for information, being prepared, ready for review or returned for revision. Each state needs an owner and a reason. “Waiting” becomes useful when it identifies the missing requirement and the person who can supply it. Clear states also let a reviewer approve a specific hand-off without implying that every later business action has already been authorised or completed.
Design a return path for ordinary interruptions
The enquiry may contain two conflicting specifications, an attachment may be absent or the intended recipient may be unclear. A complete demonstration shows what happens in these situations. The agent can preserve useful work, identify the unresolved part and return it to the appropriate role. That makes the workflow resilient to ordinary information problems and helps people understand the limits of the prepared material without reconstructing the whole conversation.
Evaluate the hand-off in its working context
The final concept review returns the brief to a representative receiving colleague. Can they understand the request, find the supporting record and decide what to do next? The answer may reveal a need for a different format, a clearer source panel or a more specific completion rule. These findings shape the next iteration. A useful enterprise agent is assessed through the work it enables another person to carry forward, with human responsibility visible throughout the process.
