TRACE | A clear relationship between role, task and access
Use a concept permission matrix to turn an abstract access discussion into questions that can be examined one by one.
Explain task and access relationships around three roles: information owner, business user and reviewer.
| Role | Public material | Internal research | Sensitive records |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analyst | |||
| Project owner | |||
| External collaborator |
Public material can support this task; retain its source.
A boundary needs to be understood to be used
TRACE turns data-access relationships into an understandable scenario. Three nested architectural frames establish visual order, while roles and information types explain how the same record can have different conditions of use.
Rather than reducing security to a lock icon, the concept gives access, request and denial distinct, explainable states.
Define access through role and task
The concept matrix includes analysts, project leads and external collaborators alongside public material, internal research and sensitive records. Changing the role changes which material is available and which requires a request.
The distinction explains the relationship between a person’s task and the scope of information, rather than merely adding steps.
Make unavailable access understandable
When a request is outside the current scope, the experience explains why and provides an appropriate next step instead of leaving an unexplained disabled control. A request for access concerns purpose and responsibility, not a way around controls.
The feedback brings data boundaries into everyday work. Rules become visible in individual choices rather than existing only in separate documents.
Turn order into a discussable approach
TRACE combines a visual study, role matrix and usage explanation, connecting with SaturnGlitter’s controlled-data narrative. The rules demonstrate information relationships; they are not the permission configuration of an actual client system.
Further work would define access, review and operation together around real records, organisational roles and business purposes.
