One proposition, two languages, several places to live.
MARKET explores how a commercial story can remain recognisable across Chinese and English while adapting to different editorial formats. The brief begins with a shared proposition and asks each version to express it naturally. A bilingual headline system, an editorial cover and parallel wide and portrait compositions are developed together. The project treats language and image as parts of the same creative decision, with the intention established before the layouts begin.
Build a world that both versions can inhabit.
A consistent material palette, light direction and sense of scale connect the collection. The visual story uses contemporary architectural space and a restrained relationship between cool and warm light. The environment suggests international movement without relying on a literal map of office locations. This gives the images an editorial identity that can support the same business idea in different languages, while allowing each composition enough freedom to solve its own reading and format requirements.
Translate the meaning, then listen to the rhythm.
The English version may need a shorter main line and a supporting sentence, while the Chinese version may express the thought through a more compact headline. MARKET develops those structures separately and checks that both preserve the original intention. Line breaks are chosen for meaning and rhythm. The image is then adjusted around the actual language, so a second-language version feels deliberately composed rather than inserted into space left by the first.
Let every format keep the story intact.
The wide editorial image leaves a deliberate reading area beside the visual action. The portrait version shifts the balance upward and changes the relationship between the subject and surrounding space. A cover composition makes the first impression quickly, while a supporting image gives the story room to develop. Shared visual principles tie the outputs together. The production guide records the purpose of each version, suitable crops and the conditions for adding text, helping a team use the collection consistently.
A bilingual system with one creative centre.
MARKET is an internal Mercury-style creative concept. Its deliverables include parallel headline structures, an editorial image family, wide and portrait compositions and adaptation principles. Review considers whether the proposition stays consistent, whether each language reads naturally and whether the image still does useful work in every format. The collection demonstrates a way to make cross-market communication feel coherent and considered, without claiming a real international campaign, client commission or measured media result.
